Listed Buildings & Conservation
Over the years we have carried out many works on buildings of national importance or with in conservation areas, ranging from Grade II listed Thatched cottages, large family homes, to Manor Houses. These projects always need that little bit more in terms of craftmanship and experience.
Carpentry & Joinery
With many years of Carpentry experience, ranging from intricate cut roofs, box sash windows, new staircases or even your dream kitchen, we can cover all aspects of carpentry works for any project. Working closely with our local Joinery shop we can also cover any required bespoke joinery that may be required.
Kitchens
With our own CAD design software, and able to offer Kitchens from Crown Imperial and JPD, we can provide a true turnkey service for those who want us to carry out their building works along with taking care of the design and installation of their new kitchen.
Small Commercial & Shops
We are able to offer our building services to small commercial businesses, whether it’s an office extension, refurbishment or general maintenance of new fire doors. We are happy to consider any works you may have in mind.

The service we offer
The building industry has changed beyond recognition over the last 20 years. The days of just turning up to build an extension and being on the right side of the law have long gone.
Nowadays we have lots of other responsibilities, initially ensuring our customers acknowledge and sign their consumer rights before any works begin. Along with providing the CDM for the project, there’s sending off the F10 form to the HSE, carrying out risk assessments, method statements……
Below is a breakdown of the main areas as your selected building company we will take responsibility for, implementing on your behalf, protecting your assets, along with safeguarding the welfare of others and providing a professional service.

Professional
Ablewood is a member of the Federation of Master Builders (FMB). We have an annual inspection to ensure we are meeting all the required standards set out by the FMB. We also work closely with local professional bodies such as Architects and Structural Engineers and have good working relationship with Building Control Services. We can advise you at every stage of your building project, whether it be first contact and recommending a local Architect or may be its our in-depth knowledge of available materials and building techniques throughout the project.

Qualified
We ensure that all our craftsmen are suitably qualified for tasks they undertake. Some may be time served whilst others may have C&G or NVQ qualifications. Many years of hard work, commitment and investment are required for a tradesperson to gain the knowledge and skills to carry out their work at a high standard. Some are still required to attend regular training and inspections to ensure they are working to the latest standards and regulations.

Estimating
Having invested in our own estimating software we can produce consistently accurate and in-depth professional quotations for every building project. Using EstimatorXpress software we are linked to our chosen merchants and thousands of live building material prices using the Price Tracker™ service. The ability to produce quotations linked Gantt charts and management reports enable us to keep the project on time and most importantly on budget. All this with a clear stage payment schedule and any provisional sums identified giving you the ability to manage the budget as the works progress.

Works Contract
All building works require a contract to be in place prior to them commencing, that’s the Law. The HSE Construction Design Management (CDM2015) and Consumer Rights means this is now a legal requirement for every building company. We use Contract Xpert software which keeps us up to date with all the required consumer and commercial law. It is linked to our estimating software and provides a job specific contract tailored to every project. If you choose for us to be the main contractor, giving us full responsibility for the site, then it is within this document that responsibility is passed, under CDM 2015.

Insurance & Warranties
The right insurance cover is an important part of running any business. Ablewood Ltd carries an All Risk Insurance Policy, this is a combined policy that covers Public Liability, Contract works and Employers Liability along with other aspect such as plant and tools.
Contract Works Insurance is often an over looked policy. This policy covers the uninsured building works until such a time that this risk moves to the home owner.
Registered as an FMB master builder we can also offer Build Assure cover for new build this provides a 10-year structural defect cover.

Health & Safety
Helping to keep up with all new legislation and legal requirement we have invested in our own Health & Safety Xpert software this enables us to produce a job specific CDM document along with all the required Method statements, Risks assessments and COSHH Assessments.
The Construction Design Management (CDM2015) brought big changes to the residential sector, making it a legal requirement that all building projects have an appointed main contractor. HSE also introduced a law that requires all project over 30 days in duration to be registered with them on an F10 form, and that all involved be it Builder, Architect, Engineer or Client, have roles under CDM 2015 regulations.
